Planting and Growing Your Seaside Serenade® Newport Hydrangea
These hydrangeas grow to be about 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide, with a sturdy dense form. As with any plant, make sure you give your hydrangea space to grow to its full size
To plant, dig a hole as deep as the root ball and twice as wide, carefully place the plant in, and backfill the hole with soil. Regular watering is crucial, especially during the first growing season, so your hydrangea establishes a deep, extensive root system. Once it's established, water your hydrangea as needed to maintain evenly moist soil. Mulching is also recommended around the plant's root zone in the summer and winter to help your hydrangea conserve soil moisture (and protect it in colder climates).
Pruning is minimal and generally only required to remove dead or weak branches. It's also recommended to deadhead spent blooms. This helps your hydrangea come back year after year with big, colorful flowers that can range from intense blue and purple to soft magenta.
