Introduced in France in 1849, this favorite is often found in fancy fruit gift packs, and considered the best tasting Pear variety. Its large, greenish-yellow fruit is blushed with red and has a sweet, juicy flavor. Lovely, white blooms appear early-to-mid spring. Fruit can be harvested beginning in late September. It is self-fertile in the arid West, but produces much better with a pollenizer such as Bartlett in the more humid East. Requires 500 to 600 chilling hours.
LIGHT: Full sun
WATER: Requires regular watering.
SIZE: Reaches 30 to 40 ft. tall and 25 ft. wide.
