We have been pioneers and craftsmen in the art of growing plants for nearly 100 years. Since our founding in Southern California by Harry E. Rosedale, Sr. in 1926, we have been absolutely dedicated and obsessed with quality.
Quality starts by selecting the very best varieties of plants to grow, working with breeders from around the world to test and trial plants before we deem them suitable for your garden center. From our custom soil mixes developed to ensure healthy roots to the care we take in pruning and shaping our plants as they grow, Monrovia is also focused on giving every plant what it needs to thrive. Vestito Rosso® Camellia
From the original Nuccio's Bella Rossa comes this unique beauty with glossy, midnight red new foliage. An abundance of perfectly formed crimson red flowers unfurl during the cool season when little else is in bloom. This prized specimen for landscape or container makes an elegant screen for shaded areas. Evergreen.
Emerald Colonnade® Holly
This handsome and versatile male evergreen holly with a natural pyramidal form creates a superb hedge, screen, or windbreak. Dense, glossy, bright green foliage is tolerant of shearing, making it an excellent topiary specimen or formal accent to entryways or gardens. Small cream-colored flowers do not produce berries.
Seaside Serenade® Hydrangea
These new-and- improved hydrangeas have a more compact, bushy growth habit, sturdier stems, thicker leaves, returning blooms, and longer-lasting flowers than other hydrangea varieties. They are great on their own or in mass in formal gardens or as a focal point in containers. And their cut blooms are lovely in a vase.
Grace N' Grit™ Shrub Roses
Stunning bouquets of roses on fuss-free shrubs that will endure the trials of a long, hot summer with an unwavering blooming zeal. Nitty Gritty™ Peach Roses
Not just a pretty face, these very durable, own-root, fuss-free groundcover rose produces an abundance of lovely blooms while offering excellent disease resistance and a self-cleaning, easy-to-care-for habit. Five colors to choose from with double blooms providing exquisite warm season color, adding great low-maintenance curb appeal to the landscape. Deciduous.
Camouflage® Variegated Japanese Aralia
Each leaf of this showy shrub possesses an exquisite melding of yellow, lime and green, providing an illuminating effect in a dappled shade setting. Prized for its unique, highly textural foliage, it often blooms fall to winter, producing showy panicles of white flower clusters. Evergreen.
Tropicanna® Canna
Tall stems are crowned by large, bright orange blooms. Exotic foliage adds interest, with emerging bright burgundy leaves maturing with stripes of red, pink, yellow, and green. This dramatic specimen provides bold color and lush texture to garden beds and is an exceptional featured container specimen. An herbaceous perennial.
Bountiful Blue® Blueberry
An award winning variety with the bluest of foliage! Pink-blushed flowers produce a big crop of large, sweet, juicy berries on a compact, mounded shrub. Perfect for hedges or planting in large tubs. Self-fertile, though planting with another variety may increase yields. Needs only 150-200 winter chill hours. Semi-evergreen in mild climates.
Jazzy Jewel® Andorra Juniper
Exceptional bright green and gold-splashed foliage on a naturally spreading form that creates a showy and durable ground cover. Versatile for use as a rock garden accent or in the foreground of borders. Bright foliage becomes tinged with bronze and purple tones during the winter months, for an added color blast. Evergreen.
Velvet Viking™ Japanese Maple
Low, spreading branches on a beautifully mounded, weeping dwarf form. Rich, red, deeply dissected foliage holds its color throughout the growing season, developing more vibrant red tones in the fall. A lacy, delicate appearance yet exceptionally tough and cold tolerant. Thrives in full sun of cooler regions. An excellent container specimen. Deciduous.
