A handsome shrub with glossy dark green leaves and very showy, fragrant red flowers that arrive in late winter to early spring. More cold tolerant than most varieties; typically blooms later in spring in colder regions. The upright, vigorous form grows quickly when young, filling in nicely as an evergreen hedge, screen or foundation plant.
